Beware of Expensive Care!
As I write this blog in March 2025 businesses face a difficult time with a rise in the national minimum wage and an increase in Employers’ National Insurance both announced in the October 2024 budget. This hits the home care sector hard given most of our costs are wages. It is likely all companies operating in care and probably most other economic sectors will have to increase their prices to cover these increased costs.
However, please be wary of companies charging very high hourly rates for home care. Certain companies will only carry out a minimum of one hour’s care which effectively forces you to pay for a full hour even if your tasks take well under this duration. These companies also often charge very high hourly rates, perhaps over £45 per hour. If you are paying £45+ or quoted this price in the Leyland and Chorley area please ask the provider why the price is so high and what extra you will get to justify this price.
Here at Independent Living we price our care so we can provide care at a sensible and fair price to you but also at a level we can invest in our business. We invest in staff training, our computer systems and our office. If we can do the care call in 30 minutes or perhaps 45 minutes we will do so. It is only in rural areas where it is unfeasible to provide care using short durations.
If you are looking for care at a sensible price in the Chorley or Leyland area why not give us a call in office hours on 01257 696 050.
