Thinking About Care for A Loved One?
If you are considering care for a loved one in their own home it may seem a daunting task. I have owned a care company for 12 years here in Chorley and Leyland but when I recently needed care for a loved one in North Yorkshire and I realised how difficult it was as a customer. You would think someone with experience in the care sector should find it easy! Home care has different problems in different parts of the country and on the North Yorkshire coast I found care scarce because companies did not have the carers. I assume the seaside attracts retirees and the demand for care is very high. A number of companies offered to provide care but they were every expensive, would charge for an hour even if the tasks lasted barely 30 minutes and some care businesses insisted a minimum £200 of care every week was taken, and termination periods were 28 days or more.
Back here in Lancashire Independent Living tries to be fair and ethical to customers. We can often complete 30 minute calls if the tasks can be carried out (in non-rural locations), we have no minimum weekly care call numbers, care calls can be changed or cancelled at reasonable notice without charge, and the care costs finish when the customer stops using the care service.
