Help With Post Operative Support and Exercises

Independent Living’s customers are often elderly and given this it is inevitable our carers see and deal with people with certain medical conditions.  One common issue is helping people who are having joint replacements, very common is hips and knees.  These days this type of operation has become routine and even an older person in their 80s may only have to spend 48-72 hours in hospital.  The operation can take place at many locations, both NHS, private hospitals and even NHS operations at private hospitals! At the moment a lot of joint replacements are being carried locally out at Euxton Hall Hospital at Chorley.

When are discharged from  hospital they temporarily lose their mobility and will need help washing, dressing, making food and generally moving around their home.  Independent Living can complete all these tasks to help someone to recover at home rather than perhaps a care home or rehabilitation facility.  In order to regain mobility customers are usually given exercises to complete daily, our carers can help people do these exercises, motivate those who are struggling, and ensure carefully the instructions are followed.  Generally people return to normal mobility in about 6-8 weeks and in this time they tend to taper off their care call requirements as they need less support. independent Living understands this and provides flexible support tailored to your needs.

If you have a date for a planned replacement operation why not give us a call?  We can come and visit you before the operation to understand your requirements.  We can be contacted in office hours on 01257 696 050
