Getting Out and About

Most people think about home care as looking after someone who is housebound, but this is not always the case, taking customers out and about is also a major part of our care work.  In some cases it may be socialising at places like garden centres, coffee shops and places of interest.  In the local area Birkacre, Derby House, Heskin Hall, Cedar Farm and Avant Garden Centre are common destinations.  In some cases it can be sentimental occasions such as laying flowers at a grave to remember a loved ones anniversary, I am helping a lady do this for her late husband next week by taking her to the burial ground in Longton.

We also help people with practical appointments such as outpatients at the local hospitals, local GPs and dentists.  This is all part of care work!  Whilst some of these appointments could be done by ordering a taxi the advantage of involving Independent Living is that we will accompany you throughout your entire visit.  This may include finding a wheelchair at the hospital, locating the right department, explaining matters to reception staff if necessary and helping you home after treatment.

If you require care or support outside the home why not give Independent Living a call?

We are CQC registered, have car insurance and all our staff are DBS checked.  Amanda or Lilian can be contacted during normal office hours on 01257 696050 or 01772 439 102.
